Before you start answering questions on the form, take a moment to read over all the questions. The following notes will assist you with the different questions. However, the online format may change and you’ll want to get familiar with how to answer questions instead of rushing in.

Have all your answers ready when you begin filling out the form. You will NOT be able to exit the form and return later to finish. The online form will NOT let you SUBMIT your registration if you leave any question UNanswered. Only begin the form when you know that you have all the answers and time to finish. If a question does not apply to you, select the “0 (zero)” option or type the word “none” if it requires a written answer.

PHOTOS

You will be asked to upload a photo for promotional use. This photo will also allow the committee to see how your company/unit will fit in the line up. Additionally, we use these photos in the scripts for announcers. Make sure your photo accurately depicts what the announcers and the spectators will see. The maximum file size for your photo is 5mb. Be sure your photo is ready to upload when you begin to fill out the online form.

Because we are using Google Forms to accept photos, the primary contact (the person filling out the form) must use an email that is connected with a Google account. Photos will NOT upload without this type of account. The secondary contact does not require an email connected with a Google account.

Questions and the format of the following questions are subject to change by the opening date of the registration.

We will likely ask for your contact information and a second contact for back up.

We will likely ask questions to help us understand the best fit for your company/unit:

-Is this your first time in the Mother Goose Parade?

-Are there any members in your group that are under the age of 18?

-What type of music will your company/unit have? (marching band, musical number, etc)

-How many horses in your group?

-How many vehicles and/or floats in your group? (Special guests will have an option to request a vehicle)

We will definitely ask you to help us and the spectators know more about you.

-Write a script for your company/unit

-Help us pronounce names in your group

A script is what the announcers read as you pass by their booths. They are reading it, so you will want to be mindful of the tip below about speaking in THIRD PERSON. WARNING: Really long scripts tend to be edited down quite a bit. All scripts are subject to edits by the Mother Goose Parade for appropriateness and time. To avoid edits, keep your script short and sweet. You can always share details in our social media communications (see next topic). You must submit your script online in the text format of the answer box. PDF’s or images of your script will NOT be accepted.

TIPS FOR A SCRIPT THAT IS PARADE READY:

  • KEEP YOUR SCRIPT BRIEF – LESS IS MORE
  • KEEP IT INTERESTING
  • DO NOT MAKE THE AUDIENCE MEMORIZE YOUR WEBSITE OR COMPLICATED DATES
  • BULLET POINT YOUR COMPANY/UNIT’S KEY FACTS
  • SPEAK IN THIRD PERSON –

EXAMPLE: “THEY HAVE PERFORMED…”   –   “THEIR FLOAT CONTAINS…”   –   DO NOT SAY “I OR WE”

We will want you to know the conditions of being accepted into the parade.

If selected to participate, you may be required to pay an entrance fee, provide vehicle registration and insurance and sign a consent and release form. You must agree to have read and understand these conditions, even if these may not be applicable to you.
